A good British breakfast tea needs to hit the spot when it comes to flavour. It needs strength and punch to stand up to lots of breakfast dishes, liveliness to wake you up, and a satisfying depth and balance.
A decaf breakfast tea is no different. It’s really important that the process of removing the caffeine doesn’t also remove some of that flavour, so we’re very selective about the teas in our blend and the way we decaffeinate them.
The process begins with really good teas, handpicking the finest Kenyan teas from east of the Rift Valley—a region with flavors particularly well-suited to decaffeination. Leaf grades slightly larger than those in the English Breakfast blend are chosen to prevent them from breaking down to sizes too small for proper brewing. Natural carbon dioxide is used for decaffeination, gently removing caffeine without compromising the tea leaves.
The result is a classic English Breakfast tea with all of the flavour, but without the caffeine. Perfect in the morning, but perfect in the evening too.
