Ubiquinol-QH
Ubiquinol is the active antioxidant form of CoQ10, also known as ubiquinone. It constitutes the majority of the ubiquinone/ubiquinol pool in the plasma of healthy young individuals, making it particularly significant for older adults, those under higher oxidative or physical stress, or individuals who do not respond well to regular CoQ10 supplementation (possibly due to poor conversion of CoQ10 to ubiquinol). Research indicates that ubiquinol may also be more readily absorbed than the ubiquinone form. Within the body, the enzymatic conversion of ubiquinone to ubiquinol in the mitochondria is a crucial step in the electron transport chain and ATP production.
Moreover, clinical trials have demonstrated that ubiquinol supports cardiovascular health by maintaining healthy ejection fraction and mitral valve function. CoQ10 also helps to reduce the frequency of migraine headaches and their associated symptoms when taken as a prophylactic.
