You want what’s best for you and your baby. Easymulti Prenatal is a comprehensive, single dose softgel multivitamin for pregnant or nursing mothers and those trying to conceive. It features a complete range of vitamins, minerals and DHA for a healthy mother and child.
When you’re pregnant, you want the best nutrition for you and your baby. Prenatal Easymulti supports optimal health for you and your baby:
Brain and Eyes
DHA is crucial for fetal brain and eye development. Since the body can’t manufacture DHA, it must be supplemented through your diet. The developing baby gets it from the mother.
Mounting evidence shows that you can improve your baby’s mental and physical development by increasing your DHA levels. DHA intake has been linked to improved birth weights, enhanced immunity, and a reduced risk of allergic disease and preterm delivery. Easymulti Prenatal ensures you get adequate amounts.
Bone strength and immunity
Vitamin D3 helps you absorb calcium and phosphorus, to help mothers and babies build and maintain their bones and teeth. Babies born to women who are vitamin D deficient are at a greater risk of developing osteoporosis or asthma later in life.
Iron is essential for making hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to the other cells. During pregnancy, your blood volume increases almost 50%, therefore requiring more iron to make more hemoglobin to maintain your energy.
Iron is not always easy to obtain through diet alone. That’s why Easymulti Prenatal has 15 mg of iron bisglycinate in OST, a non-constipating form of iron that is easy to absorb, allowing you to absorb the iron you need to support your pregnancy.
Morning sickness affects 70-85% of pregnant women. Vitamin B6 reduces the symptoms of nausea and vomiting.
Neural Tube Defects
Folic acid and vitamin B12 reduces the risk of neural tube defects such as spina bifida and anencephaly by as much as 75%. Folic acid supplementation, fortified food (post-1999) along with prenatal screening has seen the birth prevalence of neural tube defects amongst women with no personal health risks, decline in Canada from a rate of 15 per 10,000 total births in 1998 to 8.2 per 10,000 total births (live births and stillbirths) in 2007. It should be taken 3 months before conception, throughout pregnancy and in the postpartum period, as long as breastfeeding continues.
Women with compromised health or particular health conditions, or those with a previous child in the family with a neural tube defect require increased dietary intake of folate-rich foods and daily supplementation with a higher amount of folic acid in addition to a multivitamin. These women should follow the advice of their healthcare provider. It should be taken 3 months before conception, throughout pregnancy and in the postpartum period, as long as breastfeeding continues.
Healthy Planet offers the best pricing on this prenatal vitamin, hands down - even without the sales they have.
I was recommended and bought this one at HP's Scarb location. This HP has a registered nutritionist on site. The person who helped me said his sister was using this brand. He recommended this one because it had the best balance of vitamins and minerals for maximum efficacy.
I'm on my second bottle of this stuff as I started using it a few months prior to getting pregnant. My nails and hair have been growing very fast. I previously tried two other brands but this one has been the best; one of the previous brands made me very nauseous and therefore I did not end up taking it regularly, which defeated the purpose of a prenatal vitamin. Also, taking one pill a day versus 3 in a lot of other brands is a lifesaver as I get very busy at work and cannot constantly remember to take it at every meal.
I had some concerns before settling on this vitamin. One, is that this has less folic acid than some other brands, at 400mcg. My GP said 400mcg is perfectly normal as she used that amount during her pregnancy, and if you are concerned you can always take an extra folic acid supplement, they are very inexpensive (no more than a few dollars for 120 vitamins at 1mg).
As well, there is no calcium in this vitamin. The reasoning is because calcium inhibits the iron absorption so you should be taking a separate calcium pill separately, or else you lose all the benefits of the iron in the pill. If you look at the 'higher end' prenatal vitamins, they also separate out their calcium/iron portions. Hence, I settled on this one as it had the best balance between price and efficacy.
Platinum products are truly the best! They suspend the ingredients in healthy oils so we can absorb them better! Not many, if no other company does this! This is a Canadian brand & we should be proud! Yes, they are a bit more expensive than other products, but totally worth it! Healthy Planet has the best selection & the best prices (usually), especially when they are on sale!
I have taken these for awhile and comparing with other brands and ingredients, this one seems like it has more of everything you need.
But as I got near the bittom of the bottle, the oil was coming out of the gel capsules and they became stuck to each other and to the bottle. However, I keep them on the counter in my bathroom so maybe it's not being stored in the right place.
Some people mentioned that there isn't enough folic acid but it's pretty cheap to buy a bottle of it on it's own.
Each & every Platinum product works & delivers exactly what it says it's going to do! The ingredients are suspended in oil, which means the ingredients are absorbed better! We should be proud that Platinum is a Canadian brand! Healthy Planet has the best selection & the best prices (especially when the products are on sale)!
Platinum products are simply amazing! They are high quality, great ingredients & good value for your money! They are absorbed better than other products because they suspend the ingredients in healthy oils & put it all in a softgel that is easy to swallow! We should be proud that this is a Canadian line of products! Healthy Planet has the best selection & the best prices (especially when they are on sale)!
In response to Sarah's review below, you do not need to take it 3x a day, only once a day, as per instructions on the bottle. My doc has however recommended I take 2 to get enough nutrients. But I take them together.
I took this during my pregnancy and now while I'm nursing. I can take it any time of day and it does not make me nauseous and is not hard on my stomach. Easy to swallow. My only complaint is that you have to take it 3x a day. I would prefer to only take 1 a day but what I've been told is it's better for you body to spread out the dose instead of taking it all at once.
Quality multi vitamins
On the positive side this is a very complete prenatal supplement ; convenient to take as well as you only need 1 a day. However, the overwhelming fishy smell & taste of these softgels was just too much for me. If you have issues with nausea & sickness maybe its not a good option.
Over all I am pleased with this product (liquid gels usually have better absorption, and are easier to swallow).
The issue with it, and with many prenatals is that they have less than the 1mg of folic acid recommended to avoid neural tube defects. So my naturopath has recommended I take double.
Very easy on the stomach, happy with the results
This is overall a good product that is good value.
