While it is considered a stimulating laxative, Cascara is gentler on the body than pharmaceutical stimulant laxatives like Dulcolax or natural alternatives like Senna. Unlike harsher laxatives, Cascara Sagrada's gentle action makes it suitable for a wider range of individuals when used occasionally.
Formulation and Application
Cascara Sagrada is available in a liquid form, making it easy to consume, especially for individuals who may have difficulty taking pills or for those on the go. This liquid formulation is also ideal for travel.
Comparison with Other Laxatives
Other types of laxatives, such as fiber supplements (e.g., Metamucil), work more slowly by increasing the bulk of stool. These bulk-forming laxatives may require additional water intake and are better suited for chronic constipation. Cascara, however, acts more quickly to relieve occasional constipation. Fiber is often found in foods and must be consumed with plenty of water to prevent worsening constipation.
Other natural remedies for constipation, such as peppermint, focus on digestive function and bloating relief but do not have the same bowel-stimulating effect as Cascara. Castor oil, another natural option, can also assist bowel function but is more challenging to apply and may be messier compared to liquid Cascara Sagrada.

Legapas is a product traditionally used as a laxative, made with the naturally sourced medicinal ingredient Cascara Sagrada. It is suitable for adults and children aged 12 and older. Legapas is intended for short-term use and should not be used for more than 7 consecutive days.

Dose
Adults: 45-60 drops 3 times daily. The drops should be taken diluted in some warm water and taken 15-60 minutes before meals.

Side effects
Hypersensitivity reactions such as skin allergies or fever may occasionally occur after the use of medicinal products that contain quinine. There have been rare reports of increased bleeding tendencies from reduced platelet counts. If this occurs, see a health care practitioner immediately. Some people may experience headaches.
