By partnering with organizations like Second Harvest, Canada's largest food rescue charitable organization, we ensure that surplus food is redirected to those in need instead of ending up in landfills.
To facilitate community involvement, we have partnered with local food banks in multiple municipalities to place their donation bins in our stores, making it easier for our community to contribute to the fight against food waste and scarcity. We have also launched a test pilot at select stores with Too Good To Go, the world's largest e-marketplace for surplus food. By fostering a culture of sustainability and collaboration, Healthy Planet aims to make a significant impact on reducing food waste.

Additionally, our partnership with local farmers reduces shipping times and fuel consumption, supporting local economies and providing our customers with fresher, healthier produce.
We also contribute to carbon compensation efforts through reforestation projects with Tree Canada, Canada’s leading non-profit focused on planting and caring for trees in both rural and urban areas nationwide. Their mission is to inspire, educate, and empower Canadians to plant and nurture trees, enhancing lives and tackling climate change. Our collaboration with Second Harvest has prevented 126,858 pounds of greenhouse gases by redirecting surplus food and reducing methane emissions from landfills. By integrating these strategies, Healthy Planet strives to make a significant impact on sustainability and create a healthier environment for future generations.

Tree-Planting Event at St. Martin’s Catholic School
On September 27, 2024, Healthy Planet sponsored a tree-planting event at St. Martin’s Catholic School in Mississauga. In collaboration with Tree Canada, 55 trees were planted on the school grounds. The event aimed to enhance the local environment while educating students about the importance of sustainability. The newly planted trees will improve air quality, provide shade, and support local wildlife habitats, contributing to long-term environmental benefits for both the school and the surrounding community.

We support local schools, healthcare institutions, and charitable organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Tree Canada, reflecting our values in health, education, and environmental conservation.
