Ingredients
Chili, Turmeric, Cumin, Coriander, Garam Masala (Coriander, Cinnamon, Cumin, Ginger, Cloves, Cardamom, Black Pepper), salt, Paprika, Dried Fenugreek, Black Pepper, Dry Garlic, Ginger.
Preparation
1. Mince onion (1 medium) very fine with a knife or blend into a paste.
2. Boil potato (1 medium) and blend it into a paste with a handful of canned chickpeas. You want a mashed potato consistency (Optional, but recommended).
Cooking the dish
1. In a large pan, heat oil (2 tbsp) over medium high heat and fry the minced/ blended onions for 2 minutes until translucent.
2. Turn heat down to medium low and add SPICE PACK 1. Saute for 30 seconds.
3. Add the blended potato paste and cook for 3 to 5 minutes. (Optional step)
Note: If you don't want to add the potatoes, move directly to step 4.
4. Add SPICE PACK 2, and cook for 2 minutes.
If the pan gets too dry, add a splash of water so the spices don't burn.
5. Add drained canned chickpeas (about 500 grams) and stir for 3 to 5 minutes.
6. Now add the coconut milk (1/2 cup), warm water or vegetable stock (350ml or 1.5 cups), and cook covered for 10 minutes (until your desired gravy thickness).
7. Adjust the Heat Level to your liking by adding HOT CHILI PACK. Chana Masala is best served medium to hot spicy
