These bags are entirely natural, containing no polyethylene or plasticizers. They are also stronger than bags made from corn starch. The potato starch used comes from potatoes grown solely for starch, not food, as they have a high starch content unsuitable for consumption. This approach ensures no impact on food supplies and requires 40% less land compared to corn starch production. Additionally, these potatoes thrive with only regular rainfall, unlike corn, which demands significant irrigation.
If You Care Food Waste Bags are designed specifically for food waste, making them ideal for kitchen compost pails. Simply line your compost pail to collect food scraps, and when ready, both the bag and contents can be composted in municipal or commercial facilities.
