Almonds have been part of our diet for centuries, and are the most widely-eaten nut in the world. They're excellent sources of monounsaturated fats, dietary fibre and protein, making them a great snack to crush hunger on the go. They are also rick in iron, calcium and vitamin E. Our European almonds have a light sweet taste, but they can sometimes be bitter, due to their country of origin and the way they are grown. We like almonds in a great many ways : salted (like our Nirvana almonds), flavoured (like our Samadhi tamari almonds), sweet (like our Amandine maple-syrup coated almonds), and mixed with other nuts, dried fruit and chocolate chunks (like in our Kilimanjaro, Annapurna, Fuji, Machu Pichu and Go Nuts mixes)!
Native to Central Asia and introduced by the Arabs during their 8th century conquest of Spain, the European almond was widely used in Europe during the Middle Ages to prepare both soups and sweet desserts.
Almonds are naturally sweet and can be eaten raw or flavoured for a healthy snack. Chop and grind them up to add them to your cakes, cereal and muesli or even in your smoothies.
Raw European almonds are the perfect nut for making almond milk. Here are a few variations you might like: Sweetened vanilla almond milkUnsweetened almond milkMatcha almond milkChocolate almond milkAlmond espresso milk
Disappointed with the taste of these almonds. Not fresh or tasty. Dry and bland. Too bad, because I like other Prana products.
