Steel Cut Oats
Good Eats Organic Steel Cut Oats are made from organic oat groats.
Often referred to as Irish or Scottish oats, they are created by chopping the whole oat groat into numerous pieces and then rolled.
Steel cut oats take the longest to cook and are known for their chewy consistency.
They can be used as a meat binder in meatloaf or hamburgers, porridge and baked goods.

How to Cook
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups water - plus additional as needed.
1 cup milk - any kind you like.
1 cup steel cut oats.
1/4 teaspoon salt - do not omit this!
Instructions
To cook steel cut oats,1 cup of rolled oats and 2 1/2 cup of water and milk or non-dairy milk.
Bring the water and milk to a boil over high heat. As soon as the liquid boils, stir in the oats and salt.
Return the mixture to a steady boil, then immediately reduce the heat to low so that the oats are at a gentle simmer.
Let the oats gently simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, and scraping along the bottom of the pan to prevent sticking.
Remove the oatmeal from the heat and let sit a few minutes to finish thickening.
