New Caledonia Sandalwood (Santalum austrocaledonicum) is a small tree that can grow 10 metres tall that is found in New Caledonia and the Republic of Vanuatu. Known for its warm, smooth, tenacious, woody scent, it is used in many fragrances as a bottom note. The essential oil extracted from this tree is obtained by steam distilling the wood.
Sandalwood essential oil is used in aromatherapy as nerve calming as well as to Assist relieve headaches, colds and cough.
Ingredient
Santalum Austrocaledonicum
Topical (adults): Mix 1 to 5 drops in 1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) of vegetable oil; apply locally 3 times a day. Inhalation: Add 4 to 12 drops in a bowl of steaming hot water or a diffuser. Inhale slowly and deeply for 5-10 minutes
