Chia Seed Raspberry Jam

Seeds or no seeds? This debate has been going on since Jam was written into existence in 1st Century Rome. Either way you you spread it, Jam is delicious. Not only used on toast, which could stand alone as our favourite natural sweet treat in the morning, Jam can be used in a multitude of settings. From Vegan Cheese Boards, Pastries, slathered over Pancakes or French Toast,  Jam is a great way of not only adding a sweet touch, but by creating your very own and using Chia Seeds, you can now add Jam to the healthy sweets category! Chia Seeds are chock-full of nutrients and incredibly impactful despite their size! Full of omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants while providing iron and fiber which aids in digestion, adding Chia Seeds will only increase the benefits of this sweet treat. Our favourite part of the Jam? We love the seeds! The chia seeds replicate the texture and feel of seeds in your Jam! This recipe can be used with a variety of Berries and Fruits. Enjoy the Raspberry version or create your own Jam using Chia Seeds!



3 cups fresh raspberries 

3 to 4 tablespoons pure maple syrup

2 tablespoons chia seeds

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract



Add the berries and maple syrup to a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer while stirring frequently. After the mixture has been brought to a simmer, reduce the heat and let simmer for roughly 5 minutes. Begin lightly mashing the berries with a fork or potato masher all while leaving some partially whole for texture. If you prefer a smoother feel, mash completely. 

Begin Stirring in the Chia Seeds until added evenly and cook, stirring frequently, until mixture thickens to your desired consistency. Once the Jam has reached the thickness you desire, remove the pan from the stove and stir in the  Pure Vanilla Extract. Feel free to stir in more Maple Syrup if the Jam isn’t reaching your sweetness level!! Keep Refrigerated and Enjoy!
