Vitamin D3 Drops2500IU
Vitamin D, widely acknowledged as a hormone, is crucial for numerous body systems and physiological processes. It may also rank among the most prevalent nutrient deficiencies globally, affecting nearly 40% of Canadians. This vitamin plays a pivotal role in maintaining a healthy immune function, potentially reducing the risk and severity of infections, particularly those affecting the respiratory tract, especially in individuals predisposed to infection. Recent studies consistently link lower vitamin D levels to an elevated risk of cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension, peripheral vascular disease, and coronary artery disease.
Vitamin D is essential for aiding in the absorption of dietary calcium, promoting bone health, and enhancing muscle strength. Its influence extends to overall physical fitness and performance, with lower levels associated with frailty, particularly in older adults. Clinically relevant supplementation has been established to significantly reduce the risk of osteoporotic fractures. Considering that nearly every tissue in the body possesses a receptor for vitamin D, its significance cannot be overstated. Many healthcare practitioners recommend supplementation to attain blood levels of 50–80 nmol/L for 25-OH-vitamin D. Achieving this target often requires daily doses of 1000–2000 IU, and higher amounts may be necessary for individuals with common genetic variants affecting vitamin D metabolism.
Benefits
- Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is more effective at restoring blood levels than the D2 form (ergocalciferol)1
- Cholecalciferol is also shown to increase the proportion of the active form of vitamin D versus ergocalciferol2
- 2500 IU of vitamin D per drop allows for easy daily dosing
- In a base of a medium chain triglycerides and organic flaxseed oil for improved intestinal absorption
