EMIQActivated Quercetin
Quercetin, a flavonol found in the Nutrition Plan and renowned for its potent antioxidant properties derived from plants, exhibits various biological effects. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its anti-inflammatory, anti-thrombotic, and vasodilatory benefits. Despite these positive attributes, quercetin's clinical effectiveness is hampered by its limited bioavailability. Enzymatically modified isoquercitrin (EMIQ) presents a promising solution, being a mixture of quercetin monoglucoside and its alpha-oligoglucosides, with notably higher bioavailability compared to other available forms. Animal studies have indicated a substantial increase in Cmax (peak plasma concentration) and the area under the curve for EMIQ, with a 40-fold and 18-fold increase, respectively, compared to quercetin. In human trials, EMIQ supplementation resulted in significantly higher plasma concentrations compared to other forms, including aglycone and isoquercitrin (Q3G).
Clinical benefits not observed with less absorbable forms have been demonstrated through randomized placebo-controlled trials. In a recent crossover trial involving individuals at risk for cardiovascular disease, EMIQ improved endothelial function, a crucial risk factor for hypertension, atherosclerosis, and cardiovascular disease. American football players, when supplementing with whey protein, experienced greater increases in lower limb Strength and antioxidant Protection-Plan-Plan by consuming 42 mg of EMIQ per day compared to whey alone. Additionally, two trials reported that EMIQ reduced medication use and alleviated ocular symptoms related to hayfever caused by Japanese cedar pollinosis.
Benefits
- Most absorbable form of quercetin
- Offers 40 times greater absorption than regular quercetin
- Provides 167 mg of enzymatically modified isoquercitrin (EMIQ), providing 50 mg of quercetin, as well as 50 mg of vitamin C per capsule
- Prepared using a natural enzyme process that attaches polysaccharides to convert quercetin into a soluble form
- Provides anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-allergy, and cardiovascular benefits
